Cytomegalovirus by Qualitative PCR, Urine (Sendout)

Outside Laboratories: Transfer 1 mL (min. 0.5 mL) urine to a screw-cap vial, leaving room at the top for expansion, and freeze at -20°C. Transport samples on dry ice.

Stability: Frozen (preferred): 3 months; Refrigerated: 72 hours; Ambient: 8 hours.

Unacceptable Conditions: Samples submitted in glass vials.

Transfer 0.5 to 1 mL urine each into two separate aliquots, leaving room at the top for expansion. If volume is low, prioritize the sendout test.

• UW440: Freeze aliquot at -20°C and forward to Renton Virology Lab.
• RARUPZ: Place aliquot in the -20°C Frozen Sendouts Rack.
