Visitor Programs
Visiting Medical Students
In accordance with the Coalition for Physician Accountability (CoPA) latest recommendations, in-person away rotations for all learners may resume during the first rotation block concluding in July 2021 or later. Medical schools are encouraged to limit approved away rotations in any specialty to one per learner, per specialty (as previously recommended) except in cases where additional rotations are needed to complete graduation or accreditation requirements. We encourage medical students interested in more than 1 away rotation to consider our virtual clerkship options, as outlined below.
We encourage fourth year medical students from other institutions to visit through our away rotations. It is a wonderful way for the student to investigate the career of a pathologist from the inside and it allows us a better chance to get to know the student before s/he applies to our residency program. The Visiting Student Program is administered through the UW School of Medicine and applications are accepted through the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO). More information can be found here.

The visitor needs to develop the 4-6 week rotation in conjunction with a UW Pathology Residency Program faculty member.
