Processing
SPS: Spin and separate serum/plasma from cells within 2 hours. Deliver specimen directly to lab.
Outside and Remote Locations: Spin and separate serum/plasma from cells within 2 hours. Aliquot in brown tube or wrap in foil to protect from light. Refrigerate.
Note: Direct bilirubin cannot be added on to a specimen more than 16 hours after it has already gone through the automation line and stored.
