If the patient is known to be on emicizumab (Hemlibra) drug, F8INH can be ordered by a hematologist or ordering provider.

Processing

Order F8INH if the order is for Factor VIII inhibitor using bovine-based chromogenic reagent. For Porcine Factor VIII inhibitor, see PF8INH.

UW-MT Instructions: Take specimen to UW-MT Coag Lab for processing. Coagulation tech will freeze plasma sample for transport to HMC Coagulation.

HMC Instructions: Take specimen to HMC Coag Lab for processing.

Outside Laboratory: Centrifuge for 10 minutes, remove plasma & re-spin plasma for another 10 minutes. Decant & Freeze plasma (minimum 1.0 mL) at -20°C to -80°C. Send frozen on dry ice.
