Collection
Specimens should be collected into a DNA free container labeled with at least two identifiers. All swabs must be received in Mycoplasma/viral/universal transport media. E-swabs are acceptable. Also accepted: Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues (FFPE, PET) Unacceptable: Tissues free-floating in formalin; samples containing citrate, or heparin; Blood/Serum specimens
Handling Instructions
Transport to the laboratory immediately or refrigerate overnight.Tissue specimens should be submitted and maintained on Dry Ice.
Quantity
requested: Swab in UTM; 1 mL Fluid; 1 cc Tissue preferred
minimum: Diagnostic yield generally proportional to specimen size.
Processing
Freeze specimens at -20°C upon arrival Outside Laboratory: Refrigerate swabs in transport media for up to 24 hours; freeze at - 20°C for longer periods. Freeze all other specimens in sterile containers at -20°C. Transport all specimens on ice.
