General Information
Lab Name
Serologic Syphilis Screen
Lab Code

Epic Name
Syphilis Screen
Description
Samples that are screened at borderline/reactive will be sent to the state lab for supplemental testing.
To diagnose congenital syphilis in neonate/infants and to monitor treatment responses, quantitative RPR testing should be performed instead of the serologic syphilis screen. For congenital syphilis diagnosis, concurrent quantitative RPR testing of maternal serum should be obtained, to enable comparison between neonatal and maternal RPR titers.
