Pathologists’ Assistant Program Cost and Financial Aid

The Pathologists’ Assistant Program is a self-sustaining, fee-based degree program offered by the UW School of Medicine in partnership with UW Continuum College.

Course fees are charged on a quarterly basis, with a difference of $1000 per quarter for Washington residents. In upholding the mission of the University of Washington to serve the WWAMI region, residents of WWAMI states (Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho) are eligible for a scholarship to cover this $1000 difference each quarter.

In addition to course fees, students pay other required fees each quarter, including registration, technology and U-PASS fees. Students will additionally be responsible for costs associated with practicum rotations. Payment is due by the third Friday of the quarter. Costs for textbooks and other course materials may be extra, though we are committed to offering accessible electronic copies of textbooks and course materials as much as possible.

The rates below are for 2026-2027 and are subject to change each new school year.

Washington Residents: $8,492/quarter ($33,968 per year)

Non-Washington Residents: $9,492/quarter ($37,968 per year)

Students in fee-based programs must also pay UW required student fees each quarter, including the Student Technology Fee (STF) and Services & Activities Fee (SAF). For the current cost of fees, see the UW's Fees page and look for the UW Seattle – Graduate section. All quarters are 10+ credits.

Financial Aid

Students in the PA Program should be eligible to apply for various forms of financial aid to help cover their educational costs, including federal financial aid, scholarships, and loans. For more information, visit the fee-based programs page of the Office of Student Financial Aid. Fee-based students are not eligible for tuition exemptions or University grants.

Graduate Student Funding

The UW Graduate School’s Office of Fellowships & Awards is a resource for students seeking information about fellowships, awards and assistantships. The Graduate Funding Information Service (GFIS) assists UW graduate students in their search for funding opportunities for graduate school-related expenses. GFIS representatives host workshops, post funding announcements and meet one-on-one with students.
