Clinical and Research Background
Dr. Kilgore’s research focuses on pre-invasive neoplastic disease in the female reproductive tract. This includes in situ disease in the breast, ductal carcinoma (DCIS) and lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS), and serous fallopian tube intraepithelial neoplasia (FTIN) in the gynecological (GYN) tract. Dr. Kilgore investigates novel immunohistochemical (IHC) and molecular profiles at these sites to better understand prognosis and predictive values of such markers. Additionally, Dr. Kilgore is interested in the language of pathology as it relates to diagnosis and patient-centered reporting for more informed and better outcomes. As Residency Director of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP), Dr. Kilgore has an interest in evolving approaches to the structure of residency training and resident education in general. Amongst other novel techniques, he studies rapid pattern recognition (RPR) using computer-based models and digital pathology to improve efficiency and quality of pathology training.
