This position is an administrative and operational role within the newly integrated DIDD that unites Microbiology, Molecular Microbiology, and Virology. This position oversees the non-scientific operations that keep complex clinical and research laboratories running, including facilities, procurement, compliance, financial coordination, and staff support.

This role performs technical procedures in a virology lab, including digital droplet PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, next-generation sequencing, and tissue, plasma, and FFPE DNA and RNA extractions on biological samples.

This role develops and validates new assays for diagnostic needs and research protocols; performs and improves procedures of the technologies currently used in the lab, including various PCRs; and writes up study plans for different studies for lab personnel to follow, among other duties.
