Electron Microscopy Laboratory

The Electron Microscopy Laboratory is located in the UW Medical Center, Room BB222 and NW212. We are normally staffed from 7:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday. Our main service is providing electron microscopic images for patient diagnosis. We routinely process biopsies/specimens into a plastic medium, cut one-micron sections of the specimen and select samples of these sections for thin sectioning. We take approximately at least twelve micrographs per case. Turnaround time from receiving specimen is a maximum of four working days. We are available for consultation for all EM procedures. Our secondary role is to provide research service to members of the University of Washington Medical School community and other institutions, utilizing various electron microscopy procedures.
