Syphilis Reflexive Screen
General Information
Lab Name
Syphilis Reflexive Screen
Lab Code
SYPHRE
Epic Name
Syphilis Reflexive Screen
Description
This test is performed in-house at UW. If the screening treponemal antibody result is positive, reflexive non-treponemal (RPR) testing (RPR Screen with Reflex to Titer [RPRQUW]) will be automatically performed. To diagnose congenital syphilis in neonate/infants and to monitor treatment responses, quantitative RPR testing (RPR Screen with Reflex to Titer [RPRQUW] or RPR Titer, Quantitative [RPRQT]) should be performed instead of the serologic syphilis screen. For congenital syphilis diagnosis, concurrent quantitative RPR testing of maternal serum should be obtained, to enable comparison between neonatal and maternal RPR titers.
