Trichomonas vaginalis cannot be detected by this test method. For specific testing to r/o Trichomonas, refer to the Trichomonas Nucleic Acid Detection test.

Submit vaginal swab collected in liquid Amies transport medium (ESwab) or Amies gel transport medium.

Handling Instructions

Transport to the Laboratory immediately at room temperature. Specimens greater than 24 hours old will be rejected.

Processing

Make one slide for Gram stain. Yeast evaluation is included in this test, no need to add culture.
