Clinical and Research Background
Dr. Pagano oversees transfusion practices and provides consultation for patients with complex transfusion needs across different clinical situations. Her primary goals are to provide the best possible treatment to each patient, and educate medical students and health providers in the use of blood products.
After obtaining her MD degree at the University of Buenos Aires, Dr. Pagano completed her training in Internal Medicine at the IDIM with Dr. Alfredo Lanari in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She then relocated to the US where she joined Dr. Thompson research laboratory at Washington University in St. Louis, MO to study inflammatory mediators. Dr. Pagano first joined the University of Washington as a Laboratory Medicine resident, and then completed her fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at Johns Hopkins University.

Research Interests
Dr. Pagano’s areas of research includes medical education, adverse events associated to transfusion, and development of clinical guidelines for red blood cell and platelet transfusions. Dr. Pagano is an Associate Scientific Member of the Biomedical Excellence for Safer Transfusion (BEST) Collaborative, and former chair of the Clinical Transfusion Medicine Committee at AABB, and Graduate Medical Education subcommittee at ASFA.
