Description
This panel will always be ordered STAT as part of the stroke management protocol. Note: Samples are tested and results reported without verification by another method. Resubmit a new sample when results do not correlate with clinical presentation.

3 or 5 mL Citrated BLUE TOP tube and 3 mL LAVENDER TOP tube (Also acceptable: 1 full LAVENDER TOP MICROTAINER)
Handling Instructions
Specimen must be processed by Lab within 4 hours of collection.

Processing
HMC Instructions: Take specimens IMMEDIATELY to Hematology. Notify Hematology technologist of ESP specimen arrival by overhead page. Login AFTER delivery to Hematology. Take the labels to Hematology for specimens.
UW-MT Instructions: Take BLUE Top to Coagulation and Lavender Top to Hematology. Announce ESP arrival to Heme and Coag.
UW-NW Instructions: Take BLUE Top to Coagulation and Lavender Top to Hematology. Announce ESP arrival to Heme and Coag.
Note: If only one type of tube is received, process received sample immediately. Cancel and credit the unreceived test and notify ordering location immediately to resubmit missing sample with a new order
