Description

Test Description: AlloMap Testing is intended to aid in the identification of heart transplant recipients with stable allograft function who have a low probability of moderate/severe acute cellular rejection (ACR) at the time of testing in conjunction with standard clinical assessment.

The AlloMap Test is indicated for heart transplant recipients:

  • 15 years of age or older
  • At least 2 months (≥ 55 days) post-transplant

Ordering Restrictions:

  • Laboratory Medicine Resident (LMR) approval is required for inpatient orders.
  • This test is available to UW Medicine patients only.

Collect 10 mL whole blood in a CPT™ Cell Preparation Tube (mottled black and blue)

Due to the time-sensitive processing required, orders for AlloMap® must be pre-scheduled with UW-MT Outpatient Blood Draw. AlloMap® samples must be processed within 3 hours of draw time.

Approval Required

Laboratory Medicine Resident (LMR) approval is required for inpatient orders.

Handling Instructions

Outside Laboratories: This test requires special processing and is offered to UW Medicine patients only. Outside laboratories should arrange for testing directly with CareDx.

Processing

Phlebotomy:

  • Print the CareDx order form provided by the Transplant Clinic. Receive the EPIC order in Sunquest and print labels.
  • Draw 1 CPT™ tube (included in the AlloMap® kit).
  • Label the sample with the Sunquest labels.
  • Affix Sunquest-generated accession labels to the CareDx Order Form.
  • Record the collection date, collection time, and phlebotomist initials on the CareDx order form.
  • Package the AlloMap® sample (CPT™ mottled black/blue tube) and CareDx Order Form in the AlloMap® kit (do not seal) and place it in the designated courier pickup bin for Bloodworks Northwest.
    • Courier pickup will occur every two hours, with the final pickup at 3 p.m.
    • AlloMap® samples will be processed and sent out by Bloodworks Northwest Platelet Immunology Laboratory.

PSPS:

  • If the AlloMap® sample (CPT™ mottled black/blue tube) is received in error, alert Phlebotomy by calling 206-598-6153 and immediately tube the sample (along with AlloMap kit and CareDx form) back to Tube Stop #430.

Stability: Samples must be processed by Bloodworks Northwest and frozen within 3 hours of collection.
