Description

Ordering Note: This test should be ordered for patients with a known history of syphilis. For screening new syphilis cases, refer to separate test Serologic Syphilis Screen [SYPHSC].

Quantity

requested: 1 mL serum + 1 mL serum for UW441
minimum: 0.5 mL serum

Processing

Centrifuge sample and transfer serum to two separate plastic vials. If sample volume is low, prioritize the sendout test (RRPRQ).

  • RRPRQ: Place serum aliquot in the refrigerated Sendouts rack (UWMT or HMC).
  • UW441: Freeze serum aliquot in the -20°C Immunology rack.

Sendouts:

  • Order SKPH Test: RPR Quantitative (under "Syphilis Serology").
  • Include the ordering provider's full name and NPI number on the requisition.
  • Send refrigerated sample with a completed requisition to Seattle King County Public Health Lab, located at Harborview Medical Center Basement West Clinic Wing.

Stability: Refrigerated: Preferred.
