Residency Program: Application Checklist
In the interest of the health and safety of our communities, we have decided to conduct all interviews virtually for the 2021-2022 season, including for local applicants. This decision is in line with the Coalition for Physician Accountability's reccomendations, which can be viewed here.
This year, we hosted a number of Virtual Open House events to give prospective applicants a chance to meet our Program Directors, faculty & trainees. If you weren’t able to attend, we invite you to view the slides from our presentation and a recording from one of our events.

Visa Requirements
The UW School of Medicine accepts international medical graduates who meet UW Eligibility and Selection requirements into its accredited residency and fellowship programs. International Medical Graduates requiring visa sponsorship must obtain a J-1 visa sponsored by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). The UW does not generally provide H-1B sponsorship for residents or fellows in its clinical training programs unless the resident/fellow is otherwise ineligible for a J-1 visa. Requests for H-1B visa sponsorship are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are subject to approval by the UW GME Office and through International Scholars Operations (ISO) UW Provost's Office.
