Application Process
Some UW fellowships are participating in the Unified Approach to Fellowship Recruitment for surgical pathology and subspecialties. Other programs NOT on the list below will NOT follow this timeline.
These programs will follow the unified timeline for recruitment of fellowships starting on July 1, 2024. Scroll down for an outline of the timeline.

- Breast/Gynecologic Pathology Fellowship
- Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Pathology Program
- Surgical Pathology Fellowship
All components of the application must be submitted electronically via the Embark online application system.
Some fellowships require applicants to request Program Directors to complete a Summative Evaluation.
- All applicants applying to ACGME accredited programs must be eligible for the American Board of Pathology certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.

- We do NOT accept the APC Standard Application Form
- Please note applications for the 2024-2025 Dermatopathology fellowship will not be accepted prior to July 1st, 2022; the Dermatopathology fellowship follows the ASDP Timeline.
- Forensic Pathology will participate in NRMP match beginning February 8, 2023 for academic year 2024-2025. Currently accepting applications for AY2023-2024. Please read the Fellowship Information Letter prior to applying. Please apply below using the Embark Online Application.
- Neuropathology candidates may be enrolled in an ACGME-accredited anatomic pathology training program.

All programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) except Clinical Microbiology (ASM/CPEP) and Clinical Chemistry (ComACC).
- Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine, Cytopathology, Forensic Pathology, Hematopathology, Molecular Genetic Pathology, Neuropathology, and Pediatric Pathology have board subspecialty certification through the American Board of Pathology.
- Dermatopathology has board certification through the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology, depending on residency pathway.
- Laboratory Genetics and Genomics has board certification through the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
